Ugh. There were things that I really liked about this book. And then there were things that infuriated me. Let me start by saying that there wasn’t much Christmas in a book with it in the title. I was expecting this to feel like a holiday novel and it didn’t. Yes, one of the turning points in the relationship between Gray and Abby involves her love of Christmas and his disdain for it but I wanted more holiday romance and less romance novel tropes.
LGBT Romance is a new genre for me. I have read some romance in the past and it’s a genre that I have been reading more recently in my personal genre study. I didn’t know what to except when I started this book but ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would.
I am going to say honestly that I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. I don’t read a lot of romance or chick lit but as a new librarian, I am trying to expand my reading and explore genres that I am not familiar. Right off the bat I enjoyed the writing and characters, Becky was instantly likable and the supporting characters were given enough story to be important but didn’t take away from the main love story.
Wow, wow, wow. I am not too familiar with the erotica genre and was looking for one that was well written, with interesting characters, and an actual plot line. I got lucky with this book.
