Super Fun Sexy Times

Superheroes? Check. Evil Villains? Check.  Erotic sex? Check.  This graphic novel is exactly what you think it would be…in a good way.  This was a fun read that I would recommend to superhero fans and romance fans.

From Goodreads:   Showing consent and character-driven erotic relationships, Super Fun Sexy Times answers the age-old question: what happens when the mask comes off? Two sidekicks on opposite sides get stuck in an underground lab together, and find a great way to pass the time. A tactician and superhero discuss their desires, limits, and kinks before their first time, and perhaps get a little too excited in the process. A pair of supervillains explore gender and sex together, while growing closer in their relationship. Lesbian heroes try out a kinky role playing scenario, and discover how to make it work for both of them. And an exhausted assassin relaxes after a long day with the kind (yet firm) attentions of his husband.

There was a lot to love about this book.  The art was fantastic and I would love to read more of McClaren’s comics solely based on how much I loved it.  The colors were vibrant and eye-catching, and the drawing style had a superhero feel that was fun.  The characters were quirky and interesting and I wanted them to be real superheroes and villains!  Consent is a major theme throughout, and fetishes are celebrated, not something to be ashamed of. I loved how this book is sex and body positive.. The facts about each character at the end of the story were amusing and I appreciate how much work McClaren put into developing the strengths and weaknesses of each character.  My only complaint is that I wanted the stories to be longer!  Most of the couples were interesting enough that I wanted to know more about their backstories and to see what happens after their scenes were over.  I hope there is a second volume in the works!

This was a super cute and super hot look at what happens when superheroes aren’t saving the world and villains aren’t plotting their next scheme.  The art was great and the writing was clever.  I recommend this book and look forward to reading more by Meredith McClaren.
